There are three regions:
| Region | Where |
|---|---|
na |
North America |
eu |
Europe |
ap |
Asia-Pacific |
Which regions are open, and how each one stands, is on the status page.
Where things are made
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| A sandbox | The region of POST /v1/sandboxes or POST /v1/run; without one, the region of the API you call. |
| A Cube | Every region in its regions (all three unless you say). A request is answered in the region it comes in at. |
| A keyed instance | The region of the edge its first request came in at, or the region of POST /v1/apps/{app}/instances, among the app’s regions. |
| A Drive | The region of POST /v1/drives; without one, the region of the API you call: its home. A sandbox of another region mounts it too where that region’s machines read its home’s object store, and its home follows it there after an hour (across regions). |
A sandbox’s and a Drive’s region say where they are. A keyed instance’s label metadata.region says where it was asked for: the two differ when it had to be made elsewhere (below).
When a region cannot take it
A new sandbox goes to the region it asks for while a machine there can take it. When none can (none is there, all are full, none has room for its size), it goes to the next region that can, nearest first: from na to eu, then ap; from eu to na, then ap; from ap to na, then eu. A sandbox that must be on one machine (made from a snapshot that only that machine has, or with a volume of that machine) goes there, whatever its region.
A Cube’s request goes to a machine of its region that serves the app; another region takes it only when no machine there can.
Traffic out, by region
| Trafic sortant vers Internet, selon son point de départ | Prix |
|---|---|
| Amérique du Nord | $0.004 le GB |
| Europe | $0.004 le GB |
| Asie-Pacifique | $0.01 le GB |
Traffic to the internet is priced by the region of the machine it leaves from. See pricing and plans.
Not there yet
- Mounting a snapshot of a Drive read-only in another region than the one it was taken in.
- A separate address of the API in each region: today one API answers for every region, and things made without a
regionare made where it is.
