Volumes
Volumes: disks of a project's that outlive the sandboxes that have them, each a block device with its own ext4, kept whole in the object store and on its node's NVMe as far as its cache goes (cache_bytes), and mounted read-write by one sandbox at a time, on any node of its region. A snapshot of a volume is a version of it in the object store, nothing copied: taken (POST /v1/volumes/{id}/snapshots), forked into a new volume, restored to, and mounted read-only by any number of sandboxes at once (mode snapshot); it outlives its volume, and is billed for what it keeps alone. A volume was called a Drive until 2026-10-28: /v1/drives (and /v1/sandboxes/{id}/drives, /v1/drive-snapshots) answer the same calls as they did, for the clients from before.
